On Wednesday, May 1, the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) held a Virtual Briefing announcing a partnership with 15 local community-based organizations to launch the Economic Mobility Initiative (EMI), a $25 million investment to support the startup and growth of local entrepreneurs, businesses, and nonprofits. PALMDALE — The Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity and Genesis LA on Tuesday launched the Commercial Acquisition Fund grant program, which provides grants of $500,000 to $2 million to qualifying nonprofits to acquire vacant commercial buildings or property.
Los Angeles County is offering $10 million in grants for nonprofit organizations to acquire vacant or abandoned properties in areas most negatively affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the Department of Economic Opportunity announced Monday.

These funds, a windfall from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), are poised to change the commercial landscape, allocating between $500,000 and $2 million for eligible nonprofits.
