Commercial Acquisition Fund
Elevate your nonprofit’s impact with LA County’s Commercial Acquisition Fund
The Commercial Acquisition Fund, offered by the Economic Mobility Initiative, is designed to provide grants to qualifying nonprofit organizations to support the acquisition of vacant or abandoned land and buildings in designated communities.
Program Highlights
- Funding: $10 million from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)
- Grants: $500,000 to $2,000,000 in recoverable grants

As a result of participating in this program, participants will:
- Access grants from $500,000 to $2 million for property acquisition
- Target projects in high-need areas impacted by COVID-19
- Provide affordable, long-term space for nonprofits and small businesses
- Build capacity with support from LA County
- Improve communities and spur business growth
To be eligible to participate, applicants must
- Be located in LA County
- Have been impacted by COVID-19
- Be an active nonprofit (all nonprofits eligible including community development corporations and community land trusts) or
- Be a small business partnered with an active nonprofit.
- Not be disbarred by federal, State, or local government entity or have unresolved violations noted in the County’s contracting database.

Small Business Mobility Fund

- Learn to manage accounting and tax responsibilities
- Master marketing and branding strategies

- Gain access to funding and build strategic partnerships
- Complete the academy with a tailored business strategy
- Gain access to essential resources for operational and people management needs
- Receive assistance applying for LA County business certifications
- Tap into LA County vendor opportunities
- Be eligible to apply for future grants upon meeting graduation requirements
To be eligible to participate, applicants must
- Have been impacted by COVID-19
- Be a resident of LA County
- Be interested in starting or expanding their business
- Be an existing small business owner with 100 or fewer employees, in good standing
